Job Description

Overview The Director of Engineering plays a critical leadership role, working closely with the VP of Engineering and the broader Leadership Team to deliver key support services. This position focuses on engineering business management, prioritization of workloads, and ensuring successful project delivery for both internal and external customers. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of engineering and construction related to bulk material handling and storage facilities, combined with solid business acumen and the ability to adapt in a dynamic environment. Responsibilities Implement and support business growth strategies Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team (engineers, designers, detailers) Plan resources, forecast workloads, and ensure on-time project delivery Collaborate with manufacturing, project management, and sales teams to align deliverables Partner with executives, managers, project engineers, project managers, and CAD designers Develop project proposals and cost estimates Analyze resource allocation and balance priorities against capacity Oversee and execute complex structural engineering projects Manage engineering department budget, staffing, and software tools Drive improvements in engineering processes, standards, and workflows Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement
Qualifications Required:
U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil or Agricultural Engineering 8+ years of experience in structural and/or process design (agricultural or industrial sectors) 4+ years of project management experience in a service-based business 2+ years of leadership experience managing engineering teams Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain licensure within 12 months
Preferred:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including MS Project) and Autodesk or similar tools Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills Highly organized with strong attention to detail Self-motivated with the ability to work independently Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities Willingness to travel up to 5% (scheduled and unscheduled) Additional degree in Business or Business Management Why Join Us?
