Job Description

Drainage Technical Lead This role offers the opportunity to work on impactful projects across transportation corridors, stormwater systems, and urban infrastructure•particularly in regions characterized by flat topography, sensitive waterways, and flood-prone environments. You'll play a key role leading drainage design efforts, mentoring staff, and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to deliver resilient, high-quality infrastructure solutions. What You Will Be Doing Serve as the drainage and stormwater technical lead on major transportation and infrastructure projects Lead the planning, design, and delivery of stormwater management systems (conveyance, storage, water quality, and flood mitigation) Prepare and review hydrologic and hydraulic models, calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports Design drainage systems including storm sewers, culverts, detention/retention systems, pump stations, and flood control infrastructure Analyze complex watershed behavior and evaluate impacts of proposed developments and roadway improvements Ensure quality assurance/quality control standards are met across all deliverables Support project pursuits including scoping, fee development, and proposal preparation Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development Collaborate with clients, agencies, and project stakeholders throughout the project life cycle Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline) from an accredited institution Professional Engineer (PE) license required 12+ years of experience in drainage and stormwater design, with a focus on transportation or infrastructure projects Strong experience with hydrology/hydraulics modeling tools (e.g., HEC-RAS, ICPR, XPSWMM, StormCAD, HY-8 or similar) Demonstrated experience delivering comprehensive drainage design packages (calculations, plans, specifications, and reports) Proven ability to lead technical efforts and manage multidisciplinary coordination Strong understanding of agency standards, permitting, and regulatory requirements Self-motivated with the ability to lead teams and deliver projects successfully Preferred Qualifications Experience working in flat, coastal, or flood-sensitive environments Familiarity with state DOT and local water management district requirements Experience with alternative delivery methods (e.g., design-build) Why Join This Team Opportunity to lead meaningful infrastructure and resilience-focused projects Collaborative, employee-centric culture with strong leadership support Emphasis on professional growth, mentorship, and technical excellence Flexible work environment supporting balance between career and personal life Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package Get job alerts Share Copied to clipboard Related roles Estimator
