Job Description

Mechanical Project ManagerLocation:
Indianapolis, INSalary:
$100K-$140K (salary depends on experience)Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to lead mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role is responsible for delivering HVAC, piping, plumbing, and related mechanical systems on commercial, retail, hospitality, healthcare, pharmaceutical, and industrial projects, including ground-up and design-build work. The successful candidate will combine strong mechanical knowledge with proven construction and project management skills to manage schedule, budget, quality, and client relationships while ensuring safety and code compliance.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage mechanical scopes for projects, including HVAC, piping, plumbing, and boiler systems from preconstruction through commissioning and closeout.

Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and forecasts; track cost and schedule performance and implement corrective actions as needed.

Coordinate with clients, owners, architects, engineers, general contractors, and subcontractors to ensure design intent, constructability, and timely resolution of issues.

Review and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and submittals; manage RFIs, change orders, and shop drawing reviews.

Oversee procurement and management of materials, equipment, and subcontractors; ensure timely delivery and installation.

Implement quality control and commissioning procedures to ensure systems meet performance requirements and code compliance.

Manage on-site construction activities, ensure compliance with safety regulations, and maintain a safe work environment.

Provide leadership to project teams, mentor junior staff, and manage project staffing and subcontractor performance.

Identify and mitigate project risks; maintain thorough project documentation and reporting for stakeholders.

Represent the company at client meetings, progress reviews, and handover activities; ensure client satisfaction and successful project outcomes.

Qualifications3+ years of Proven experience as a Project Manager on mechanical construction projects; strong mechanical background (HVAC, piping, plumbing).3+ years of progressive experience managing commercial, retail, hospitality, healthcare, hospital, pharmaceutical, or industrial mechanical projects.

Experience as a Mechanical Project Manager, HVAC Project Manager, Mechanical Construction Project Manager, or Senior Project Manager.

Experience with ground-up, design-build, and new construction delivery methods.
Preferred:
Familiarity with boilers, pipe systems, commercial plumbing, and specialty HVAC systems.
