Job Description

Construction Supervisor - Transmission /
Energy Projects Location:
Dodge City, KS with travel (approximately 25% domestic travel)
Employment Type:
Long-term contract to hire $50-60/hr Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Construction Supervisor to support large-scale energy infrastructure and transmission projects for NextEra Energy. This individual will play a critical role in pre-construction planning, route development, contractor oversight, and technical project support for generation tie-line and related energy projects. The ideal candidate will bring a strong combination of field construction knowledge, routing/siting expertise, contractor management experience, and the ability to navigate complex permitting and regulatory environments. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams including Engineering & Construction, Environmental Services, Legal, Development, and Land stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Provide technical and budgetary support for transmission and energy infrastructure projects during pre-construction and construction phases Review plant design criteria, engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documentation to ensure project alignment and constructability Support route development and route refinement activities for generation tie-line and related energy projects Conduct field visits and site assessments to validate routing assumptions, identify risks, and support project readiness efforts Monitor contractor performance, construction activities, and compliance with project standards and specifications Participate in routing and siting tradeoff evaluations considering engineering feasibility, environmental constraints, permitting requirements, land impacts, and project costs Apply value engineering principles to optimize routing decisions and improve project execution outcomes Identify and evaluate project risks in collaboration with subject matter experts and provide mitigation recommendations Support permitting and regulatory coordination efforts throughout late-stage development activities Communicate project risks, constraints, and recommendations to internal stakeholders and leadership teams Maintain detailed project documentation, field observations, and technical reporting Required Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Power Generation, or a related technical field (or equivalent industry experience) 6-10 years of experience supporting technical, financial, and construction aspects of infrastructure or energy projects Experience overseeing contractors, field activities, and construction execution Strong understanding of transmission routing, siting, permitting, and pre-construction activities Experience evaluating engineering, environmental, cost, and constructability tradeoffs during project planning Ability to work effectively in highly regulated environments with multiple stakeholder groups Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills Ability to travel domestically up to 25% Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting utility-scale energy, transmission, or power generation projects Familiarity with permitting processes and environmental review requirements Experience using geospatial applications such as Google Earth, GIS, or related mapping tools Knowledge of value engineering methodologies and route optimization strategies Previous experience supporting transmission line, gen tie, or renewable energy infrastructure projects Key Skills Construction Supervision Transmission Routing & Siting Contractor Oversight Pre-Construction Planning Permitting & Regulatory Coordination Risk Assessment & Mitigation GIS /

Pay:
$50.00 - $60.00 per hour
