Civil Engineer/Project Manager

Let Vaco advocate for you! We are currently seeking an experienced Civil Engineer/Project Manager to support a growing team. The role combines engineering leadership, environmental compliance, and project management responsibilities. Key areas of focus include landfill capacity planning, contractor and vendor oversight, permitting and regulatory adherence, construction coordination, budgeting, and execution of large scale infrastructure projects. This person will also support operational teams, provide technical guidance to junior staff, and collaborate closely with internal leadership and external stakeholders.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Serve as the technical lead for CCR landfill operations, including long range capacity planning, compliance, and infrastructure improvements
• Oversee environmental and operational compliance for CCR facilities, including stormwater controls, erosion prevention, permitting requirements, and landfill construction activities
• Manage landfill related capital projects from planning through execution, including contractor coordination, budgeting, scheduling, and regulatory oversight
• Support ongoing transition and modernization efforts within the CCR landfill management program while ensuring safe and efficient operations
• Manage engineering studies, schedules, budgets, and project documentation
• Support landfill operations and environmental compliance efforts
• Oversee contractors, bids, and construction activities for capital projects
• Monitor project risks, timelines, and performance metrics
• Lead cross functional coordination with operations, environmental, and engineering teams
• Prepare updates and presentations for senior leadership Ideal candidates will have a background in civil, environmental, or related engineering disciplines, along with experience supporting industrial, utility, landfill, or heavy infrastructure environments.

A Professional Engineer license is preferred, and candidates must be willing to obtain landfill management certification in Kentucky.
