Position:
Capital Engineering Manager Primary Report to:
Plant Manager Primary Supervision of:
Project Engineer, Project Lead, Designer, Construction Coordinator, and Engineering Secretary Required Qualification:
B.S. in Engineering plus 10 years manufacturing project and supervisory experience. Responsibilities /
Key Activities:
Leadership and Team Development Lead, coach, and develop Capital Engineering personnel to build a high-performing, accountable team. Establish clear expectations, priorities, and performance metrics aligned with plant and corporate objectives. Drive a culture of ownership, technical rigor, and continuous improvement. Capital Project Execution Own the full lifecycle of capital projects from concept through startup, including scope definition, justification, design, execution, and closeout. Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and meet defined technical and business objectives. Enforce disciplined project management practices, including stage-gate reviews, risk management, and change control. Capital Planning and Financial Stewardship Develop and manage the plant capital plan, including prioritization of projects based on safety, reliability, regulatory, and return on investment. Provide clear financial justification and track post-project value realization. Control capital and expense budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources. Reliability and Cost Improvement Partner with Operations, Maintenance, and Reliability teams to identify and execute projects that reduce maintenance cost, eliminate chronic issues, and improve asset performance. Lead or support initiatives that deliver measurable cost savings and productivity improvements. Engineering Standards and Governance Maintain and enforce plant engineering standards, specifications, and design practices. Ensure consistency, quality, and long-term maintainability in all engineering deliverables. Drive continuous improvement of engineering processes and tools. Safety, Environmental, and Regulatory Compliance Ensure all projects meet applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Integrate safety and operability into design through proper reviews (e.g., PHA, MOC). Hold the team accountable for safe execution in both design and construction phases. Cross-Functional Integration Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Procurement, and Finance to ensure alignment on priorities and execution. Serve as the primary interface for capital project communication and decision-making. Other Responsibilities Support plant initiatives and strategic objectives as required.
