Role Description The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Salem, MA. This position leads a team of manufacturing engineers to improve production efficiency, product quality, and safety across the facility. Day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing manufacturing processes, implementing process improvements, resolving production issues, and supporting new product introductions. The role collaborates closely with operations, quality, maintenance, and design engineering to optimize workflows, reduce waste, and ensure reliable throughput. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager also develops standard work, maintains documentation, oversees equipment and tooling projects, and mentors engineering staff to drive continuous improvement. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager also is responsible for the facility equipment and upkeep, including the oversight of the Maintenance and Janitorial departments. Qualifications Strong skills in Manufacturing Engineering and Facility Managements, with experience designing and optimizing production processes. Proficiency in Process Engineering and Manufacturing Operations, including workflow analysis, capacity planning, and lean or continuous improvement methods. Demonstrated Engineering Management capabilities, such as leading technical teams, setting priorities, and driving cross-functional initiatives on the shop floor. Hands-on experience in an electrical, electronic, or related manufacturing environment, ideally with custom or engineered-to-order products. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of materials, and translate them into robust manufacturing methods. Familiarity with quality systems, root cause analysis, and problem-solving tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA, SPC). Proficiency with manufacturing-related software such as ERP/MRP systems and basic CAD or layout tools. Effective communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with production teams, leadership, and cross-functional partners. Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field; advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) are a plus.
