Job Summary:
Job Description Strategizes the planning, design, and optimization of data center white space, including rack layout, hot/cold aisle containment, power distribution, cable pathways, and build phases, ensuring a transformative impact on broader strategies and industry standards. Leads engagements with colocation providers, developers, and multidisciplinary internal teams (e.g., mechanical, plumbing, construction operations) to drive the strategic alignment and execution of innovative white space designs that transform organizational objectives into substantial business impact.
Responsibilities Key Responsibilities White Space and Infrastructure Design:
  • Strategizes the planning, design, and optimization of data center white space, including rack layout, hot/cold aisle containment, power distribution, cable pathways, and build phases, ensuring a transformative impact on broader strategies and industry standards.
  • Leads the maintenance of comprehensive white space documentation such as room layouts, rack elevations, bill of materials, and structured cabling designs, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and line of business goals.
  • Shapes and refines design standards and Basis of Design (BoD) documents, guiding internal and partner teams to deliver consistent and innovative white space solutions that enhance efficiency and scalability.
  • Designs and strategizes low voltage structured cabling systems to support scalable, high-performance compute, storage, and network systems, leveraging emerging technologies and addressing complex industry needs.
  • Oversees and influences the review of new site layouts and proposed fit-out designs, including failover configurations, ensuring compliance and strategic alignment with line of business standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Leads engagements with colocation providers, developers, and internal teams (e.g., facilities, construction, operations) to drive the strategic alignment and execution of innovative white space designs that transform line of business objectives into substantial business impact.
  • Leads collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering functions (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire, Controls), leveraging deep subject matter expertise to ensure seamless integration, enhance system reliability, anticipate complex risks, and drive innovation.
  • Directs and influences complex project coordination meetings, aligning cross-functional teams on scope, timelines, and critical design updates, contributing to and shaping broader line of business strategy.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert on the partnership with technology partners (e.
g., network, compute, carrier) around locating information and resources.
Project and Program Leadership:
  • Leads and influences high impact white space design initiatives and complex engineering projects, driving them from inception through execution with a major impact on strategic objectives and industry standards.
  • Provides direction to internal and external project team members, including contractors and vendors, ensuring design, fit-out, and commissioning phases align with line of business goals and drive cross-functional success.
  • Ensures project deliverables meet and exceed company expectations, standards, and schedules by leveraging advanced cross-functional insights and decisive leadership.
  • Provides deep expertise in contract administration, managing change orders, cost forecasts, and engineering documentation to mitigate risks and drive industry-leading innovation.
  • Mentors and inspires junior engineers and new team members, enhancing line of business capability and guiding team development aligned with line of business objectives.
