DESCRIPTION
The Senior Manager of Global FinOps is responsible for leading the organization's cloud financial management strategy, optimizing spend across multi-cloud environments, and driving accountability between engineering, finance, and business units. This role ensures cost transparency, operational efficiency, and alignment of cloud investments with business value at a global scale. You will act as a strategic partner across Finance, Engineering, Procurement, Customers and Executive Leadership to implement FinOps best practices, establish governance frameworks, and enable data-driven decision-making. Key Responsibilities FinOps Strategy & Leadership Define and execute the global FinOps strategy aligned with organizational financial and operational goals Lead the adoption of the FinOps Framework (inform, optimize, operate) across all business units Build and mature FinOps capabilities, including tooling, processes, and organizational alignment Serve as the subject matter expert on cloud cost management and financial governance Cloud Cost Management & Optimization Oversee cost visibility, allocation, and forecasting across AWS, Azure, GCP, and other platforms Drive cost optimization initiatives (rightsizing, reservations, savings plans, workload scheduling) Establish and monitor KPIs such as unit economics, cost per service, and efficiency ratios Partner with engineering teams to embed cost-aware architecture and design principles Collaborate with FP&A to support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for cloud spend Develop financial models to evaluate cloud investments and ROI Translate technical usage data into financial insights for executive stakeholders Governance & Policy Development Design and enforce cloud financial governance policies and controls Ensure compliance with internal financial standards and external regulatory requirements Standardize tagging, cost allocation, and chargeback/showback models globally Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with Engineering, DevOps, Product, and Procurement to align cost and usage strategies Influence engineering roadmaps to incorporate cost optimization opportunities Work with vendors and cloud providers to negotiate pricing and contracts Reporting & Executive Communication Deliver executive-level reporting on cloud spend, trends, risks, and optimization opportunities Build dashboards and reporting frameworks for real-time cost visibility Communicate complex financial and technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders Team Leadership & Development Lead and develop a high-performing global FinOps team Establish best practices, training programs, and knowledge-sharing initiatives Foster a culture of cost accountability and financial ownership across teams Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, or related field (MBA preferred) 8-12+ years of experience in Finance, Cloud Operations, FinOps, or related disciplines 3-5+ years in a leadership or management role Deep expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cost management tools Strong understanding of financial planning, budgeting, and cost allocation methodologies Experience implementing FinOps frameworks in large, global organizations Preferred Qualifications FinOps Certified Practitioner or Professional certification Experience with tools such as CloudZero, OptiX DX, CloudHealth, AWS Cost Explorer, or similar Familiarity with SaaS unit economics and cost attribution models Experience in highly regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, pharma, finance) Strong data analytics skills (SQL, Python, BI tools like Tableau/Power BI) Compensation and Benefits The salary range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $143,000.00-$214,475.00. This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
