The Scientific Program Manager provides scientific, operational, and research coordination support for specialized scientific initiatives supporting the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS). This role supports automation, chemistry, biological engineering, and scientific imaging projects through program coordination, data analysis, project tracking, and research operations management. The Program Manager collaborates with multidisciplinary scientific teams to support high-throughput screening applications, scientific initiatives, and operational planning activities that advance translational science research. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Scientific Program Manager will: Scientific Program & Research Coordination Coordinate scientific projects from initiation through completion Support study design, project planning, and implementation activities Monitor project milestones, deliverables, funding status, and research outcomes Prepare progress reports, summaries, and executive briefings Research Operations & Data Management Collect, organize, analyze, and summarize scientific and programmatic data Support development of manuscripts, presentations, and technical reports Assist with data collection systems, databases, and program documentation Conduct program analyses and performance evaluations to support operational improvements Program Collaboration & Scientific Support Coordinate multidisciplinary meetings, workshops, and scientific consultations Prepare meeting summaries, briefing materials, and status reports Collaborate with researchers, engineers, and leadership on scientific initiatives Support development and coordination of research funding concepts and scientific activities Operational & Technical Support Support compound and sample management activities for high-throughput screening applications Monitor automated robotic systems and coordinate equipment maintenance activities Identify operational challenges and recommend process improvements Develop project plans, timelines, and tracking documentation for scientific initiatives Education and/or
Experience Required:
Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, or related field Experience supporting scientific research programs, laboratory operations, or engineering initiatives Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills Experience with Microsoft Office Suite applications Experience managing multiple priorities in a scientific or research environment
Preferred:
Experience supporting NIH or federal scientific research programs Experience with automation systems, scientific imaging, or laboratory technologies Experience with Agile project management methodologies Experience supporting high-throughput screening or compound management operations Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary scientific activities Ability to analyze and summarize complex scientific data Strong organizational and time management abilities Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment Work Schedule Full-time position (40 hours per week) Monday through Friday schedule Telework eligible based on program requirements Work Environment Work performed primarily at NCATS facilities in Rockville, Maryland Collaborative laboratory and scientific research environment Interaction with researchers, engineers, scientists, and federal staff Security & Requirements Must comply with all NIH and federal workplace requirements Must adhere to research conduct, compliance, and laboratory safety standards Visa sponsorship permitted as authorized under contract requirements
