Job Description

THE POSITION IN A NUTSHELL
Sciens Building Solutions is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team of designers and CAD Operators responsible for engineering standards, system design, and code compliance. This position is responsible for helping to improve the Company's design department efficiency, evaluating existing processes and procedures, and suggesting and making necessary changes to implement those improvements. Ideal candidates will have manufacturer training, in-house training, and on-the-job experience as it relates to design. The Engineering Manager applies engineering principles to every design for code compliance and customer requirements; analyze product specifications and performance requirements to determine designs that can be installed in customer facilities; interface with CAD Operators, Designers, project managers and sales, and support their various needs.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
(and doing well!) Lead a team of designers and CAD Operators, providing supervision, mentoring, training, and engagement reviews. Participate in the design review process with design team members; ensure designs are timely, accurate, and budget compliant. Provide feedback to management for establishing, monitoring, and updating goals for the engineering department and its team members. Review all designs before submitted for approval to ensure they meet the Company's quality standards and code requirements. Review and manage the project backlog to ensure design and engineering is being completed in a timely manner to meet both internal and external customer needs. Ensure all Company policies and procedures are followed during daily work activities. Work independently or with others as a team to complete all tasks and related design functions. Routinely work with sales and project managers to ensure the most efficient design while maintaining the highest quality standards. Assist and provide feedback to the sales and project managers for organizing, planning, and prioritizing work. Assist management in developing and implementing a quality service program to increase efficiencies and proficiencies for the design and engineering department. Develop and implement AutoCAD design and drafting standards for the department. Responsible for ensuring all employees embrace our safety culture and comply with all safety initiatives.
WHAT WE LIKE ABOUT YOU
Two to five years of experience with commercial fire and life safety system. Two to five years of experience leading design and CAD Operator teams in the fire alarm and life safety industry. Technical skills, including AutoCAD proficiency, and an in-depth understanding of fire alarm and life safety systems design. NICET Level III, certified in Fire Alarm and/or Special Hazards. Strong working knowledge of fire protection codes and operations. Proficient understanding of current NFPA 72 design and installation standards. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong leadership and time management skills, and the ability to multi-task. Able to travel by air and/or ground overnight, as necessary.

Salary Range:
