Job Description

The OpportunityA well established, employee owned engineering, construction, and consulting organization is seeking an Assistant Department Manager - Transmission Engineering to help support and lead a Transmission team in the Upper Midwest. This role combines hands ontransmission design engineering with people leadership, team development, and operational support. Working closely with department leadership, the Assistant Department Manager plays a key role in developing talent, strengthening culture, improving efficiency, and delivering high quality infrastructure solutions in a collaborative, ownership driven environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesSupport the leadership, mentoring, and development of interns, designers, and engineers while promoting safety, quality, and inclusion.

Assist with performance management activities, including coaching, feedback, staffing coordination, and career development.

Help drive operational efficiency, utilization, and quality through planning, time card approval, and goal tracking.

Contribute to client support efforts, proposal development, and department business initiatives.

Promote innovation, continuous improvement, and a positive employee culture.

Key QualificationsBachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, environmental science, construction management, or a related field.5+ years of related professional experience with demonstrated leadership, mentoring, or team support responsibilities.

Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to collaborate effectively, manage change positively, and deliver constructive performance feedback.
Preferred:
