Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Individual will be responsible for leading all aspects of distribution standards development and governance. The manager will oversee the creation, maintenance, and implementation of Electric Service Standards (ESS), Distribution Construction Standards (DCS), Engineering Guidelines/Practices (EGPs), and associated policies. Position will require interfacing with many other workgroups to provide updates and coordinate all aspects of standards deployment and utilization. Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Track and support implementation of core distribution standards, including DCS, ESS, and EGPs. Establish, drive, and reinforce distribution standards across Operations and Design functions. Lead the development and implementation of work processes and procedures, including documentation of system updates and standard changes. Ensure compliance with NESC requirements and update standards as external codes or internal requirements change. Monitor and track responses to support requests through defined metrics and periodic reporting. Manage the group's annual budget and forecast future funding needs and expenditures. Foster a work environment where personnel are engaged, challenged, and respected. Provide team leadership and supplemental engineering support to the group as needed.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related technical field (or equivalent experience) is preferred. Minimum of 8 years of experience in electric utility engineering, design, construction, or standards development and 5 years of supervisory or leadership experience is required.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required:
Candidate must possess a basic understanding of electrical theory concepts and a working knowledge of power systems is preferred. Successful candidate must be able to evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using good judgment in making adaptations and modifications. Requires a working knowledge of the technical environment under the group's responsibilities along with the capability to learn and understand all governing codes and regulations, including the NESC and IEEE. Demonstrated capability with building cross-functional teams and successful initiative and project deployment through indirect and influential leadership. Demonstrated knowledge in training and technical reading/writing skills for technology. Able to effectively lead multiple large
  • and small-scale projects.
Individual will be required to set clear expectations and hold themselves and personnel accountable. Experience keeping themselves and team members safe in office and field environments. Requires the ability to learn new and current technology in a timely fashion. Requires knowledge of business environments and understanding of common business applications. A working knowledge of databases, querying, scripting / coding, and / or webpage development is preferred. Candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to present information to all levels of management and work groups in a concise manner. Working Conditions:
