Job Description:
Engineering Manager Location- Joplin, MO The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and inspiring his or her team to achieve their performance metrics. Your role will involve strategizing, project management, part staff management. Your collaborative attitude and interpersonal skills will help you thrive as an Engineering Manager. Provide engineering support for daily plant operations, production processes, and maintenance activities to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable facility performance. Plan, develop, and execute capital projects from concept through completion while coordinating with operations, maintenance, and leadership teams. Maintain and update a multi-year capital improvement plan to support plant reliability, productivity, and strategic objectives. Utilize Six Sigma and continuous improvement methodologies to analyze production data, identify process variations, and implement sustainable performance improvements. Support maintenance and reliability initiatives by evaluating equipment performance, developing improvement plans, and driving asset optimization efforts. Manage maintenance and capital budgets, including annual budget preparation, forecasting, expenditure tracking, financial reporting, and variance analysis. Review and approve requisitions, vendor proposals, and invoices while monitoring project costs and ensuring budget compliance. Coordinate technical, safety, and reliability training programs to enhance workforce capabilities and equipment performance. Lead or participate in Root Cause Problem Elimination (RCPE) investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve reliability and operational effectiveness. Maintain engineering documentation, equipment records, system drawings, and compliance-related programs, including Management of Change (MOC), fire protection systems, and contractor requirements. Collaborate with maintenance personnel to manage equipment modifications, update Bills of Material (BOMs), and ensure proper documentation of plant changes. Plan and coordinate internal and external equipment and storage tank inspections to ensure regulatory compliance and asset integrity. Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, communication, and continuous improvement across all departments. Support vendor interactions, project execution, and operational initiatives through occasional travel as required. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing, industrial, chemical, refinery, or process plant environment. Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills with the ability to influence across multiple departments. Experience applying Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or other continuous improvement methodologies. Knowledge of statistical analysis, process optimization, and data-driven decision making. Proficiency with engineering software, CAD applications, and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). Strong understanding of PLC programming, HMI systems, and industrial automation platforms, including Siemens and Allen-Bradley controls. Working knowledge of electrical systems, process controls, pneumatics, hydraulics, thermodynamics, and equipment reliability principles. Experience managing capital projects, maintenance programs, and plant reliability initiatives. Ability to travel occasionally as needed to support projects, vendors, and operational requirements.
