Overview of Role The Engineering Manager provides technical and functional leadership for a multidisciplinary engineering team supporting control panel design for integrated thermal systems. This role ensures successful project execution, regulatory compliance, platform development and standardization activities, customer satisfaction and alignment with business objectives while mentoring and developing team members. Key Responsibilities Lead execution of complex engineering control panel projects from concept through release to manufacturing. Lead projects to drive product extension and/or standardization activities. Provide technical oversight and approval for electrical designs, including panel layouts, schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and control logic/software diagrams, and manufacturing documentation. Interpret customer specifications and ensure technical requirements are met. Partner with account managers and customers to define scope, manage expectations and resolve technical issues. Manage and develop key supplier relationships for control panel components and assemblies, including technical reviews of quotations, feedback on performance, and collaboration on cost, quality and delivery improvements. Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., UL 508A, NEC, CE 60204 ‑ 1/61439, IEC, ATEX, hazardous area requirements) for power and control panels. Mentor engineers and designers; support skill development and performance feedback. Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean and change control processes. Prioritize and allocate team workload to meet business objectives and delivery commitments.
Qualifications Must Have:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or related discipline). 8+ years of experience in industrial control panel and/or thermal systems design. Demonstrated leadership or project management experience. Strong working knowledge of applicable electrical and mechanical codes and standards, including hazardous area classifications. Experience with customer-facing technical discussions. Experience reviewing and approving engineering documentation. Ability to communicate and interact effectively with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Additional Success Factors:
Project Management training or certification. Knowledge of change control and configuration management. Lean or Six Sigma training and continuous improvement experience. Strong communication skills. Strong organizational and prioritization skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams. Knowledge of Solidworks CAD, Solidworks Electrical, Eplan, or equivalent mechanical and electrical design tools.
