Position Description Summary The Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction, completion, and financial outcome of a construction project. Directs and supervises the work of project administration, project superintendents, and engineers to establish operational priorities and maintain effective relationships with owners, subcontractors, etc. NW Construction is a Heavy Civil Construction Contractor based in Bozeman, Montana. NWC specializes in heavy civil construction, taking on projects both large and small. Our work encompasses many areas of the construction industry, including but not limited to: Dams, Hydroelectric, RCC, Concrete, Large and Small Diameter Piping, Sheet Piling, Site Work, Utilities, Slurry Walls, Demolition, Marine, Environmental Work, Drill and Shoot and Aggregate Processing. Project sites are generally located in Montana and the western United States. Location At NWC, we go where the work is, which exposes your career to exciting opportunities. We relocate our teams based on the work that is available. While our home office is located in Bozeman, MT, this position will be located at one of our project sites located throughout the Western United States. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. Responsible for ensuring the project meets or exceeds its financial objectives, by overseeing and monitoring each stage of the development Coordinates daily/weekly meeting with all the area superintendents and project engineer(s) to develop means and methods, schedule contracting needs and long lead delivery times Manage all field operations and work sequence in conjunction with the Operations VP. Review project estimate or plan to determine estimated job cost, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project Oversee and approve the monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projections. Also, review, approve and negotiate change orders. Anticipate project needs with sufficient lead-time to avoid delay of production Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project, work closely with Project Manager and HR team to manage relationship with staff and craft Form and lead an effective project management team, define and delegate management responsibilities and set goals Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties, and other problems that may arise Be an effective leader, communicate with department leads regarding work scopes Ensure project superintendents understand and execute the work as required Ensure safety, quality and production is maintained Responsible for project closeout. Secure loose ends by finishing paperwork, obtaining retainages, supporting supervisors, and expediting claims Competencies Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work under pressure. Ability to oversee and coordinate a variety of people in different roles. Extremely detail-oriented. Ability to read, understand, and execute blueprints, drawings, and plans. Thorough understanding of legal requirements relating to construction and building sites. Thorough understanding of quality building practices. Ability to quickly identify problems and efficiently solve them. Strong organizational and time management skills. Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done. Supervisory Responsibilities Interviews and hires site workers. Approves timecards and requests for time off. Prepares work schedules and assignments. Communicates and enforces safety procedures and site rules. Work Environment Active construction site, mining area, or other industrial setting where large scale projects are taking place. Working around various heavy equipment operations. Exposure to various weather conditions such as extreme heat, cold, rain, or wind. Position Requirements Minimum Requirements Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future. Must have a valid, unrestricted Driver's License. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration (Accounting, Management or Finance), Construction Management or related field. Equivalent experience in a construction-related position will also be considered. Must be willing to travel and relocate. Project sites are located throughout the Western United States, so relocation and/or travel are required. 5+ years of construction and/or project management experience in heavy civil construction. Familiar with technical drawings systems and planning & reporting systems. Ability to work with and manage unionized workers or subcontractors. Communication- excellent oral presentation and written skills. Safety-oriented
