Job Description

Role and Responsibilities JMS Southeast is a small, growing company built on our ability to turn custom engineering challenges into finished temperature sensor designs. Our customers come to us because we can deliver what larger, slower organizations cannot: creative, high-quality custom solutions in days, not weeks or months. We are looking for an Engineering Manager who will lead and grow our engineering department end-to-end, leading a team of junior engineers, a seasoned chief engineer, and CAD drafting personnel — all working primarily in Solid Edge. To apply, please submit your resume and a brief note about a project where you led a team under a tight deadline and what you built as a result. What You'll Own Lead daily operations of the engineering department, ensuring rapid turnaround on custom design projects scoped to customer requirements Serve as a working manager — actively contributing to designs, reviewing CAD outputs, creating and reviewing content in ERP system including BOMs, creating and reviewing product literature and solving technical problems alongside the team Collaborate with the chief engineer on complex technical challenges and leverage their expertise strategically across the team Set and enforce CAD drafting standards, workflows, and best practices within Solid Edge to ensure quality, consistency, and speed across all deliverables Develop junior engineers through hands-on mentorship, direct feedback, and structured skill-building Own the intake, scoping, and scheduling of custom design requests so the team always knows what matters most and why Identify bottlenecks in process or capability and develop solutions — whether that means rewriting a workflow, sourcing a tool, overseeing design and creation of new tools and jigs, or personally filling a gap Build upon a culture of accountability, responsiveness, and craftsmanship where fast and right are not in conflict Work cross-functionally with manufacturing, purchasing and sales to align on customer commitments and deliver on them effectively Qualifications and Education Requirements Demonstrated hands-on mechanical aptitude — designs reflect an understanding of how things are made Practical proficiency in Solid Edge or similar CAD systems with a strong command of modeling standards, part drafting, assembly workflows, and GD&T fundamentals Proven experience leading an engineering team, including performance management, workload planning, and individual development A track record of working in high-tempo, short-deadline environments Strong organizational instincts — you can juggle multiple active projects, re-prioritize without losing your footing, and communicate clearly even when under pressure The initiative to identify what needs to be done and do it without waiting to be told Experience coaching early-career engineers and a genuine interest in developing people as a professional discipline Comfort with ambiguity and a willingness to wear multiple hats as business needs shift Benefits Full medical, dental benefits, 401k with match, paid time off
Benefits:
401(k) 401(k) matching Dental insurance Health insurance Health savings account Life insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Application Question(s): Please submit a brief note about a project where you led a team under a tight deadline and what you built as a result.
