Assistant Chief Engineer-Signals Roles and Responsibilities :
Directs all signal maintenance, and provides cost effective maintenance which ensures safe, reliable, and efficient Rail service. Directs rail signal design and construction of capital projects and infrastructure improvements and programs. Represents the Infrastructure Engineering Department and NJ Transit at meetings, presentations, public hearings, and Board meetings. Directs the management of departmental needs, including all personnel related matters. Provides direction to subordinates and establishes safety guidelines for work practices and procedures. Recommends standards for signal construction and maintenance. Ensures standardized inventory, improved reliability, safety, and customer satisfaction by improving performance of the operation. Directs and assigns the preparation, review and approval of various technical project reports, status reports, Board items, cost estimates and departmental policies and procedures. Coordinates all activities within the Communications and Signals Department.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications :
 Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related area, and (9) years of experience in the design, construction and/ or maintenance of railroad infrastructure
  • with an emphasis in Railway Signaling, to include a minimum of three (3) years in a supervisory role. This position may require service to be performed outside of normal business hours.
