We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Vice President of Engineering to lead our engineering department specializing in deep drawn metal stamping. This executive role requires a comprehensive understanding of metal forming technologies, a strategic approach to driving innovation, and a proven ability to enhance operational efficiency within the manufacturing sector. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership qualities, technical expertise, and a passion for producing high-quality metal components.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement engineering strategies that align with the company's vision and objectives, focusing on quality, efficiency, and profitability. Build and maintain a strong engineering team by promoting a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability. Provide expert guidance on the design, development, and optimization of deep drawn metal stamping processes, ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory standards. Evaluate and implement cutting-edge technology and software solutions to enhance product design and manufacturing processes. Direct and oversee multiple engineering projects from initial concept through to production, ensuring timely delivery within budgetary constraints. Utilize project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, PMBOK) to manage project metrics, risk assessment, and resource allocation effectively. Conduct thorough analysis of existing metal stamping operations to identify inefficiencies, implement Six Sigma methodologies, and drive initiatives for process optimization. Lead Kaizen events and root cause analysis to facilitate continuous improvement in quality, delivery, and cost-efficiency. Recruit top engineering talent and foster a motivating work environment that encourages professional growth and development. Serve as the primary technical contact for key customers, ensuring their requirements and specifications are understood and met with precision. Develop strong relationships with clients to promote long-term partnerships and facilitate feedback-driven product development. Develop, manage, and report on the engineering budget, ensuring all department expenditures align with strategic goals. Identify and pursue cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or performance.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position within the metal stamping or manufacturing industry. In-depth knowledge of deep drawn metal forming processes, materials science, and mechanical design principles. Proven project management experience, with demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
Preferred:
Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and simulation tools for metal forming analysis. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing techniques and Six Sigma certifications (Green Belt or Black Belt) is a plus. Understanding of industry regulations and quality standards (ISO, TS16949) related to metal stamping manufacturing.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field); a Master's degree or MBA is preferred.
