42-03 35th St, Long Island City, NY 11101 Job Summary Responsible for managing the activities of creating, innovating, designing, testing, and overall engineering support of custom design and existing products. Scope of this role spans multiple product categories and engineering disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, software, motorization, and test engineering. Leading the strategic development of processes and tools to drive efficiency, manage work activities and schedules, quantify and manage risk, and coordinate product support and implement process improvement is a critical function for this position. Effective cross functional collaboration and communication are essential to drive meaningful growth and continuous improvement. The role will focus on taking customer's custom solutions and qualifying them into full scale manufacturing stock products. The role will manage multiple projects at one time. We are looking for a leader that's comfortable being on the floor and leading a team. Job Responsibilities Custom and Existing Product Support - 70% Supervise a team of engineers and technicians to support existing products, ECOs, and ECNs. Oversee project prioritization and the execution of engineering tasks for custom solutions, coordinating with Project Managers and the Procurement team to manage risks, materials, and delivery schedules. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Product Management, etc.) to support product lifecycle management. Support the qualification and integration of alternate materials, components, and suppliers. Provide innovative and experienced leadership for multi-discipline team, including mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and test engineering functions. Ensure Stage-Gate and Technical Review (TR) processes are strictly followed while looking for Continuous Improvement opportunities. Drive continuous improvements to productivity, quality and organizational efficiency. Comfortable being on the floor 5 Direct Reports Department Leadership - 30% Promote a collaborative and highly engaged team environment while serving as an inspirational leader, coach and mentor to the Engineering team. Leads and coordinates engineering activities and defines, establishes, and assigns priorities and resources for projects in accordance with business strategies and goals. Prepares and issues required reports, summaries, and presentations related to engineering activities. Represents the company in industrial / technical organizations. Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. Master's Degree preferred. 5+ years of experience with product development in a high production environment. 2+ years of people management experience including leading teams through change. Consumer goods/consumer durables manufacturing experience is required. New product development and design experience
