Job Description

Job Summary The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the engineering department in supporting production activities for complex wiring harnesses and electromechanical assemblies. This role drives process improvements, ensures high-quality standards (AS9100), reduces costs, and supports on-time delivery for aerospace/defense customers. Duties Provide functional management, technical direction, and mentorship to manufacturing engineers. Ensure all harness manufacturing processes comply with AS9100, IPC-A-620, J-STD-001, and
NASA-STD-8739
standards. Develop, maintain, and optimize detailed work instructions, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and routings for assembly, crimping, and soldering operations. Support New Product Introduction (NPI), translate customer drawings/schematics into production-ready instructions, and troubleshoot assembly issues on the floor. Lead Lean manufacturing initiatives to increase throughput, reduce waste, and improve quality. Manage the utilization of automated harness testers (e.g., CIRRIS, CABLE-EYE) and production tools. Other duties as assigned. Experience Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent experience. 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering within the aerospace/defense cable harness industry, including 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience. In depth knowledge and understanding of AS9100 standards. In-depth knowledge of IPC-A-620 and
J-STD-001
standards, wire harness assembly, crimping, and soldering techniques. Strong Communication and organizational skills Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems. Experience with Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma methodologies.
