Job Description

Overview:
Hudson Valley Credit Union is currently recruiting for the position of AVP Data Platform.
Primary Function:
Responsible for the vision, engineering and operational excellence of the enterprise data platform. The role leads the development and administration of data infrastructure, ensuring a scalable, secure, and highly available platform that supports advanced analytics, business intelligence, and real-time data processing. The position requires deep technical expertise in modern data technologies along with the ability to align data initiatives with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
Platform Strategy & Delivery Develop and execute a multi-year roadmap to evolve the data platform from legacy silos to a modern, unified environment Align platform capabilities with business goals, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, growth, and innovation through data Engineering Leadership Oversee development of ETL/ELT pipelines, data warehousing solutions, and streaming capabilities Ensure platform performance, reliability, and accessibility Security & Compliance Partner with appropriate teams to implement identity-based access controls, encryption, and industry best practices Ensure adherence to applicable regulatory requirements Stakeholder & Vendor Management Collaborate with IT, Banking, Risk, Finance, Audit, Strategy, and HR to support data and reporting needs Manage relationships with technology partners and cloud service providers Team Leadership Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing team including Data Engineers, Power BI Engineers, Database Administrators, and Tool Administrators Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement Financial Management Manage budget across staffing, technology, and vendor engagements to ensure return on investment Operational Governance & Standards Oversee adherence to SDLC and ITSM Enforce departmental standards and procedures to maintain data and system integrity Organizational Responsibilities Adhere to all Credit Union policies, procedures, and regulatory agency requirements. Participate in all required and recommended training and development including, but not limited to, Bank Secrecy Act training (BSA) and demonstrate attained knowledge. Participate on Credit Union teams, projects and strategic initiatives when the opportunity arises. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned. Embrace and apply HVCU's guiding principles to all activities and responsibilities. Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field is required ITIL v4 or v5 foundation (or obtaining within 1 year of joining) is required Certified Information Technology Manager (CITM) or comparable (or obtaining within 1 year of joining) is preferred Minimum 10 years progressive IT experience is required Minimum 10 years experience with modern data platforms and technologies is required Minimum 5 years leadership experience at a Senior Manager or higher level is required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Deep understanding and experience with core platforms & tools (Azure, Databricks, Data quality tools e.g., GX,DLT,Soda,Monte Carlo, Infrastructure as Code e.g., Terraform, Unity Catalog) Knowledge of data engineering and processing (ETL/ELT framework, Streaming and real-time platforms e.g, Kafka, Confluent, Workflow orchestration e.g., Airflow) Expertise in analytics and development (Power BI, Python, MLOps) Strong working knowledge of Identity and Access Management (IAM) and RBAC principles and Encryption and Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) principles Strategic project management skills, proficient in Waterfall and Agile principles. Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills and ability to influence and communicate at the business level Proven ability to build, mentor and nurture high-performing teams. Salary Range:
G 33 $145,785.71 - $184,020.97 Annually
