Reimagine What's Possible This position will provide Commissioning & Startup Leadership to new plants, retrofit projects, and turnarounds from development to start up, and will support asset management/efficiency initiatives for all Americas (the Region) Projects through the coordination of the activities from the engineers & operations teams stationed at plants. The Commissioning & Startup Engineer, reporting to the Commissioning Manager provides commissioning & startup direction to the supported sites to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient construction, commissioning, and startup for new and retrofit plants during shutdowns, startups, plant expansions, and new project development. The role identifies, supports, and drives efficiency initiatives for facilities in the Region. The facilities range across multiple technologies such as Air Separation (ASU), Hydrogen and CO production (HYCO), Gasification, Helium, and Ammonia. This position works with Air Products global, regional, and local Specialists & Engineers across all functions, Regional Operations team members, project and design engineering teams, safety, and other technical support personnel in the execution of the responsibilities of this position. The position will help implement the vital systems and measures to support the Region's Product Delivery requirements, technical & operations standards, quality processes, and plant and equipment maintenance. As a member of the Regional team, the Commissioning & Startup Engineer will interact routinely with plant operations, maintenance, and engineering personnel to provide "hands-on" Startup/Operations and solving leadership support, instructions, and technical mentorship related to the sites in identifying operational perfection gaps, and working in the development of the operators during the commissioning and startup phase of the Project. The function will ensure accurate training of the operations team in driving daily tasks which include DCS & field operations, preparing and implementing safety work permits, LOTO, complete operations preventative maintenance activities, and assist the maintenance and engineering teams in preparing and driving corrective maintenance activities for new and retrofit facilities during the commissioning and startup phase. The position emphasizes collaboration, communications, organization, change management, work process optimization, planning, leadership, and hands-on technical skills. The incumbent will work to coordinate and apply in the most effective manner the available operating and technical Operations resources available regionally to support new and existing operations and new installations or modifications led by Project Engineering. The position will share learning's with the Regional Leadership which will assist in driving consistency in global commissioning and startup within Air Products across all countries for the commissioning role. Accountabilities:

Issue Daily/Monthly Reports Minimum Hiring Requirements:
Chemical or Mechanical Engineering degree preferred Minimum 10 years of Engineering or Operations experience 5 years in a commissioning role Proven ability to operate, commission, start up, troubleshoot, assess, and resolve plant-related issues Experience and knowledge of overall plant commissioning principles Knowledge in additional technologies (a plus): Air Separation HYCO Gasification Ammonia H₂ Electrolyzers Helium process systems Strong background in facility operations, including: Machinery Instrumentation and controls Electrical systems Mechanical systems Advanced/sophisticated controls across multiple technologies Demonstrated operations and technical skills Ability to read and interpret: P&IDs Isometrics Performance curves of field machinery Electrical single-line drawings Controls nomenclature and function checks for field equipment Knowledgeable in process safety, health, and local environmental requirements Strong commitment to employee involvement, team building, and diversity Willingness to travel: 75-80% regional travel per year Potential global travel Ability to represent the Americas Commissioning & Startup Organization and Air Products in front of project teams, construction, operations, and customers Strong communicator with the ability to connect across management, operations, maintenance, and customer groups Proficiency in English (spoken and written) Demonstrated leadership, organizational, computer, and interpersonal skills Formal training/experience with: Root Cause Analysis (RCA) Six Sigma Continuous improvement tools Join Air Products, where we proudly value the skills, dedication, and leadership that veterans provide.
