Full Job Description Description:
Docupace is seeking a Senior Director of Engineering, Enterprise Products , to provide executive-level technical leadership for our core WealthTech platform. This position is open only to candidates who reside in the Philadelphia metropolitan area (also known as the Delaware Valley or Greater Philadelphia region) at the time of application.
ABOUT DOCUPACE
Docupace is a WealthTech company on a mission to eliminate paperwork in financial services. Since 2002, we have built back-office automation software trusted by broker-dealers, RIAs, and wealth management firms nationwide. Our platform handles new account opening, advisor transitions, document management, compliance tracking, and compensation management — integrating with dozens of custodians and fintech partners. Our portfolio includes the Docupace Platform, Jacccomo, ComplianceEdge, PreciseFP, and Hubly.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Docupace is seeking a Senior Director of Engineering to provide executive-level technical leadership over the Core Platform — the backbone of our flagship product suite. Reporting directly to the CTO, you will set the long-term engineering vision for docupace-core, translating company strategy into platform architecture and delivery execution. This service processes wealth management documents at scale, orchestrates regulated workflows for account opening and advisor transitions, enforces WORM compliance, and integrates Docupace with the industry's major custodians and data providers. This is a strategic leadership role with deep technical accountability. You will build and lead high-performing engineering teams, own cross-functional relationships with Product, Compliance, and executive stakeholders, and make the architectural and organizational decisions that determine how Docupace scales over the next decade. We are looking for a leader who operates comfortably at the intersection of technical depth, business acumen, and organizational influence.
WHY THIS ROLE
Define the technical future of a WealthTech platform that touches thousands of financial advisors and broker-dealer back offices nationwide. Partner directly with the CTO to shape Docupace's engineering organization, culture, and multi-year technology strategy. Lead within a "Super-Builder" culture that prizes unconventional thinking, technical craftsmanship, and measurable business impact. Significant scope for organizational growth — this leader will help define how the engineering function scales alongside the company. Drive the adoption of AI-assisted development and next-generation automation across our product and engineering teams.
Requirements:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership & Organizational Development Define and execute the multi-year engineering vision for the Core Platform in close partnership with the CTO and executive leadership team. Build, grow, and retain world-class engineering talent; establish team structures, career frameworks, and a culture of ownership and continuous improvement. Represent Engineering in cross-functional leadership forums, translating business priorities into platform strategy and communicating technical direction to non-technical stakeholders. Platform Architecture & Technical Direction Set architectural standards and long-term technical direction for the core platform — encompassing backend services, event-driven infrastructure, cloud operations, and custodian integrations. Drive platform modernization initiatives, including the evolution of the event-driven messaging layer, cloud-native deployment practices, and the systematic reduction of legacy technical debt. Ensure the platform meets the correctness, security, and auditability standards required by
FINRA, SEC
Rule 17a-4, and enterprise wealth management clients. Delivery & Operational Excellence Oversee delivery across all Core Platform workstreams — new account opening, advisor transitions, document management, compliance workflows, and custodian integrations. Establish metrics and operating rhythms that give the CTO and executive team clear visibility into platform health, delivery velocity, and engineering risk. Partner with DevOps and Infrastructure to maintain a resilient, observable, and scalable production environment. Lead efforts for the responsible, but omnipresent, use of AI to automate workflows.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including 4+ years in senior engineering leadership (Director or above) at a product company. Demonstrated track record of building and scaling engineering organizations — hiring, developing, and retaining senior engineers and managers. Deep backend engineering fluency, particularly in Java/Spring ecosystems, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures; able to engage credibly in architectural reviews and technical trade-off discussions. Experience delivering in a regulated industry (financial services, healthcare, or equivalent) with direct accountability for compliance, data integrity, and security posture. Proven ability to influence at the executive level — communicating technical strategy, managing organizational risk, and aligning engineering with business outcomes. Preferred Domain familiarity with wealth management operations: custodian integrations, WORM/SEC 17a-4 compliance, NIGO workflows, or advisor transition management. Experience driving AI and automation adoption within an engineering organization as a strategic capability, not just a tooling choice.
