We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a team of civil engineers focused on municipal infrastructure and water-related projects.
The Engineering Manager will be responsible for delivering technically excellent, safe, and on-budget projects while developing staff, building client relationships, and supporting business growth. This role requires a Professional Engineer (PE) license with strong leadership skills and solid experience working with municipalities on water resources, wastewater, and drinking water systems. Key Responsibilities Lead, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary civil engineering team, setting goals, conducting performance reviews, and fostering professional development.
Oversee project delivery from proposal through design, construction support, and closeout, ensuring technical accuracy, schedule adherence, and client satisfaction.
Serve as the primary client-facing lead for municipal clients, maintaining strong relationships and acting as a trusted advisor on capital improvement and infrastructure programs.
Manage project budgets, forecasts, workload projections, invoices, and monitor profit and loss/P&L performance to meet financial targets.
Coordinate and review design work, technical reports, calculations, specifications, and plans to ensure compliance with codes, standards, and quality control/QC/QA procedures.
Lead business development and proposal efforts, support contract negotiation, and pursue opportunities to grow revenue and service offerings.
Drive operational improvements and standard practices for project management, quality assurance, and risk mitigation.
Coordinate with regulatory agencies and oversee water testing, permitting, and compliance activities related to water resources, wastewater, and drinking water projects.
Provide construction phase support and contract administration, including change order management and resolution of technical issues.
Implement and maintain safety and quality programs across projects and ensure teams follow established protocols. Qualifications BS in Civil Engineering and Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
8+ years of civil engineering experience with a significant portion working on municipal projects (water resources, wastewater, and/or drinking water systems).
3+ years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role managing engineers and technical staff.
Proven client-facing experience with strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build and maintain municipal relationships.
Demonstrated experience in project management, including budgeting, workload projections, invoicing, and P&L oversight.
Strong knowledge of municipal infrastructure, capital improvement planning, permitting, and regulatory compliance.
Comfortable leading business development activities, proposal preparation, and contract negotiations. Benefits Vacation/PTO combined 3 weeks with 8 company holidays Medical
