Registered PE License, BS or MS in Civil Structural Engineering, Industrial Structural Design experience, Engineering Leadership, Consulting exp About the Role An established, privately held industrial engineering and design-build firm is seeking an experienced Civil / Structural Engineering Department Manager to lead its civil/structural discipline. This role combines technical leadership, people management, and hands-on engineering work. The successful candidate will act as the senior technical authority for civil/structural projects while managing, mentoring, and developing a team of engineers and designers. Note:
This position is strictly focused on industrial facilities. No residential, commercial, or retail project experience is applicable. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the Civil/Structural Engineering department
Schedule staff and resources in coordination with project leadership
Mentor engineers; conduct performance reviews and support professional development
Participate in hiring and workforce planning
Serve as Lead Civil/Structural Engineer on projects
Prepare, review, and approve engineering designs, drawings, and calculations
Perform advanced structural design of:
Steel structures
Foundations (concrete and masonry)
Platforms, buildings, and pipe racks
Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and internal quality procedures
Review contractor bids and prepare bid tabulations
Resolve field design and constructability issues
Coordinate with clients, contractors, and internal project teams
Provide professional engineering seal for permitting and approvals
Visit client facilities as needed, including work at heights Required Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (accredited)
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license
Ability to provide a professional engineering seal
Industrial structural design experience (required)
Either 20+ years of experience in industrial sectors such as chemical, petrochemical, manufacturing, polymers, or resins OR 10+ years of relevant consulting experience
Strong knowledge of building codes related to civil/structural design
Prior project management experience
