Hybrid - onsite and remote Overview The Director of Engineering is responsible for directing, overseeing, and utilizing functional authority for operation, planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of all projects or process-related activities of engineering design or commissioning. Responsibilities Lead and oversee engineering projects, including design and commissioning activities, ensuring alignment with client requirements and project schedules. Manage a team of project managers, engineers, technical staff, commissioning agents, and technicians to deliver high-quality building designs and commissioning services. Delegate projects based on team members' expertise and project needs, ensuring efficient task distribution and accountability. Review engineering designs, process specifications, and commissioning standards for accuracy and regulatory compliance. Maintain strong relationships with clients and vendors, and identify new business opportunities through successful project delivery. Responsibilities Guide the design and commissioning teams to support project timelines and quality standards. Review and approve engineering documentation, standards, and process procedures. Coordinate with project stakeholders to ensure efficient resource utilization and project execution. Travel approximately 30% of the time to job sites and office locations, including under construction sites and meetings. Attend job site meetings, perform site inspections, and verify project progress and safety protocols. Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited four-year program. Acceptable Degree Alternatives:
Engineering Technology / Construction Management Degree. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Project Manager or 15 years of experience in project management within the industry. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project. Professional Engineering License. Strong verbal and written communication skills to lead presentations and business development efforts. Detail-oriented, capable of multitasking, and adaptable to a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of industry standards and competitors. Ability to lead, motivate, and coordinate cross-functional teams.
