Overview Omega is seeking a Reactor Operations Engineer to support Advanced Reactor projects at INL. This role is ideal for a nuclear professional with a strong reactor operations background who is interested in contributing to advanced reactor concept of operations development, operator training, and procedure development. The position will support multiple Advanced Reactor developers performing work at INL, contributing across the lifecycle from development through delivery, including administrative and documentation support as needed. This role offers the opportunity to directly support next-generation nuclear technology development while leveraging hands-on operational experience. You'll work at the forefront of Advanced Reactor innovation in collaboration with one of the nation's leading nuclear research institutions. Responsibilities Support operator and facility staff training program development and delivery, including instructional materials and operator readiness efforts Develop, review, and maintain operating procedures and technical documentation Assist with reactor operations program development and implementation Contribute to program execution across multiple projects, ensuring flexibility and responsiveness to INL needs Provide on-demand support to INL stakeholders, including administrative and technical deliverables Education Requirements Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline or related technical field (or 10+ years' related experience w/ reactors) Qualifications Background in reactor operations (military or commercial nuclear) Strong understanding of operational procedures, training, and reactor systems Ability to facilitate and deliver training to operations and facility staff Proficiency with standard business and technical tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, document management systems, training platforms) Demonstrated high attention to detail, particularly in generating accurate, high-quality documentation Ability to work on-site at INL (relocation required if not local) Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a drug and breath alcohol test, along with a Motor Vehicle Record check Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Security Clearance Preferred Qualifications Commercial nuclear experience with completion of a Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) License or Reactor Operator (RO) License program OR Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program Experience as Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW) / Engineering Watch Supervisor (EWS) Experience as a training instructor or strong desire to learn. Experience in procedure writing or nuclear test/operations support. Familiarity with the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) / ADDIE process. Familiarity with nuclear testing, commissioning, and quality assurance Familiarity with advanced reactors Work Environment & Expectations Full-time, ~40 hours per week Hybrid role - must be local to INL with occasional onsite work.
