What You'll Do This role calls for a dynamic, growth-oriented leader that has an entrepreneurial spirit who can identify, pursue, and successfully deliver project opportunities while inspiring and guiding high-performing teams. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership in managing staff and multi-disciplinary project teams across offices and regions, fostering collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence. You will build, mentor, and lead a team of talented professionals through the full lifecycle of transformative projects, providing clear direction, empowering team members, and ensuring high-quality outcomes for educational, municipal, and other public sector clients throughout Illinois. This role requires a leader who thrives in a collaborative environment, proactively engages with teams across multiple Psomas offices and time zones, and effectively aligns resources to meet project and client needs. Our Illinois team is experiencing strong growth, supported by a robust backlog of local work, and we are seeking a motivated leader to help sustain and accelerate that momentum. This position offers the opportunity to leverage a diverse pipeline of projects while partnering with engineering teams and service groups across the firm -driving innovation, strengthening cross-office collaboration, and delivering impactful, community-focused projects. Project Management Lead multiple site development and civil infrastructure projects from planning through construction; managing scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client expectations while coordinating with agencies and external/internal teams. Team Leadership & Mentorship Mentor and develop engineers and technical staff while fostering a collaborative, inclusive team environment that supports professional growth. Operational Support Support and collaborate with the regional manager and team lead with staffing, office related managerial tasks, and workload projections. Client Partnerships Build and maintain strong client relationships and serve as a trusted partner to development and municipal clients, navigating Illinois agency coordination, permitting, and regulatory requirements. Business Development Lead the development of proposals in response to Requests for Qualifications/Proposals (RFQs/RFPs), support grant funding applications, and participate in presentations/workshops/interviews. Throughout all aspects of business development, you will collaborate closely with leadership and marketing. Required Qualifications Active Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) license 10+ years of relevant civil engineering experience 1+ years demonstrated experience leading projects, teams, and developing and maintaining client relationships Experience working with Illinois based development companies, educational institutions, public agencies, and municipalities
Compensation & Benefits Pay Range:
$140,000 - $160,000 (commensurate with experience)
