Job Description

OverviewA client of ours is seeking an experienced Transportation Project Manager to join its Michigan-based transportation engineering practice. This role is suited for a senior-level professional with a strong background in roadway, highway, and transportation design, and experience delivering state transportation projects. The position involves leading multidisciplinary teams, supporting business development efforts, and managing the planning and design of complex transportation infrastructure projects. A flexible hybrid work schedule is offered, with a mix of in-office and remote work.

ResponsibilitiesLead and manage transportation design projects from preliminary engineering through final plans and specificationsDirect and coordinate internal project teams and subconsultants across multiple disciplinesSupport project pursuits, including teaming strategies, staffing plans, and proposal developmentDevelop and maintain strong relationships with state, county, and municipal clientsProvide hands-on design oversight for roadways, highways, intersections, and interstatesPrepare and review plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimatesCoordinate with reviewers and technical disciplines including hydraulics, traffic, structures, and environmentalMonitor project budgets, schedules, and documentation to ensure quality and complianceMentor and supervise engineering staff through design and plan development activitiesRequirementsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering10 or more years of progressive experience delivering Michigan transportation projects Michigan Professional Engineer license requiredExperience serving as a Project Manager or Lead Roadway Engineer on MDOT projectsStrong familiarity with MDOT standards, procedures, and project deliveryExperience working with state, county, and municipal transportation agenciesProficiency with MicroStation and OpenRoads DesignerStrong written and verbal communication skillsProjects OverviewThis team delivers large-scale, high-impact transportation projects across Michigan, including:
