POSITION SUMMARY
The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and supervising a multidisciplinary engineering team that delivers the design and execution of switchgear skid projects, primarily for customers within the data center sector. This role oversees the development of complete, high-quality system designs while coordinating multiple engineering disciplines to meet project schedules, budgets, and customer requirements. The position manages both internal and external engineering resources to ensure compliance with applicable U.S. codes, standards, and Vertiv quality requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead and manage an engineering team responsible for the technical execution of switchgear skid projects from initial concept through manufacturing, including post-delivery technical support. Ensure all engineering deliverables meet Vertiv quality standards while remaining within approved project budgets and schedules. Coordinate engineering activities across multiple disciplines, including Structural, Architectural, Electrical, Mechanical, and BMS/Controls, collaborating with both internal and third-party suppliers and engineering resources. Collaborate with Vertiv business units and approved suppliers to select equipment that meets customer specifications, project requirements, and U.S. regulatory standards. Serve as primary engineering point of contact for project escalations to provide both technical and managerial support to team and customers Assist with management of contracted engineering firms for structural analysis, calculations, and factory shop drawing development. Ensure compliance with applicable U.S. federal, state, and local codes, standards, and regulations, including NEC, IBC, and related requirements. Maintain working knowledge of applicable standards such as ASTM, ANSI, UL, and IEEE as they relate to structural materials, electrical systems, and finishes. Develop innovative and practical engineering solutions to address customer and project challenges. Establish, maintain, and continuously improve engineering processes, standards, and best practices. Conduct annual performance reviews, set performance goals, and support the professional development of engineering team members.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline preferred). Minimum of 6 years of progressive engineering experience, including people leadership or project management responsibilities. Proficiency with engineering design tools such as AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, SolidWorks, or similar software. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and apply construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation. General understanding of critical data center infrastructure and electrical distribution equipment. Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail. Proven analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated leadership experience managing technical teams in a fast-paced environment.
