The city is seeking an Engineering Project Manager to help advance projects in the areas of streets, utilities, buildings, and parks. The overall mission is to enhance the quality of life in Sioux Falls by providing safe streets, reliable utilities, and improved services for our residents. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with contractors and consultants, both in the office and in the field. You will manage the coordination and execution of assigned engineering projects and programs, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, standards, specifications, and regulations. Join our team today and make a meaningful impact on the community through your work. 1. Provide project coordination for assigned projects and programs. Effectively communicate with stakeholders including consulting engineers, contractors, City staff, and the public. Ensure compliance with scope, budget, and schedule. Answer questions and resolve issues on assigned projects. 2. Review plans and specifications submitted by outside consultants, contractors, developers, or other private individuals or groups and make recommendations regarding their acceptability. Prepare professional service agreements for projects performed by outside consultants. Monitor and review the activities of consulting engineers in the design and administration of projects. 3. Monitor projects for compliance with specifications, engineering design standards, and local, state, or federal rules, regulations, or ordinances. 4. Coordinate bidding process, attend public meetings, coordinate the acquisition of easements and permits, coordinate advertisement for bids, collaborate with property owners, attorneys, government representatives, utility companies, etc. 5. Inspect construction activities and materials ensuring compliance, and provide work direction or monitoring work methods of consulting engineers and architects, engineering technicians, or any other departmental employees as assigned. 6. Design plans and develop specifications and cost estimate for projects. Determine methods, locations, standards, type of materials, and estimated costs. 7. Perform other such duties and functions as are necessary or incidental to the proper performance of this position. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management; or any such combination of education, experience, and training as may be acceptable to the hiring authority. A licensed professional engineer with the state of South Dakota is required for the C42C level position. Must possess or be able to obtain prior to hire a valid driver's license. Ability to perform complicated engineering assignments with minimal direction. Knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and methods. Knowledge of plans and specification interpretation, engineering and surveying principles, structural, utility, and/or street design and construction, and knowledge and understanding of project management techniques. Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Ability to think strategically, multitask, and conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines utilizing strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to plan, organize, and schedule work activities. Ability to communicate effectively, orally, interpersonally, and in writing, to a variety of internal and external audiences.
