The Executive Vice President of Construction is a pivotal role responsible for crafting and executing the overarching strategy and vision for both construction and operations teams. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Construction Execution & Delivery Oversee all active construction projects from groundbreaking through final delivery, maintaining accountability for schedule, budget, safety, and quality on projects ranging from $15M to $50M. Direct and support a field team of Construction Managers and an Assistant Construction Manager, ensuring clear expectations, consistent site standards, and proactive problem resolution. Collaborate with the Purchasing Manager on buyout strategy, ensuring all scopes are competitively bid, contracts are executed on time, and procurement aligns with project schedules. Conduct regular project reviews and site walks, identifying schedule risks, quality deficiencies, or budget exposures early and driving corrective action before they become material issues. Enforce rigorous QA/QC standards specific to single-family residential construction, including inspections at critical milestones (foundation, framing, MEP rough-in, pre-drywall, final). Preconstruction & Design Coordination Partner with the development team on design reviews, constructability analysis, and value engineering to ensure projects are buildable, code-compliant, and within budget before vertical construction begins. Review and validate construction budgets, preliminary schedules, and bid packages in coordination with the Purchasing Manager prior to project launch. Participate in project kickoff with development to align on scope, phasing strategy, and delivery milestones. Procurement & Trade Partner Management Lead a competitive, merit-based bid process for all scopes of work, requiring a minimum number of qualified bidders on every trade package and making award decisions based on price, qualifications, and demonstrated performance, not tenure alone. Continuously expand the approved subcontractor and supplier bench, actively recruiting new trades capable of meeting Elmington's quality, schedule, and pricing standards. Evaluate subcontractor performance on an ongoing basis; hold partners accountable to contract terms and replace underperformers when necessary. Negotiate subcontracts and purchase orders that clearly define scope, schedule, quality expectations, and consequences for non-performance. Compliance & Safety Maintain a zero-compromise safety culture across all job sites, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Ensure all projects are permitted, inspected, and closed out in compliance with jurisdictional requirements. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Provide strategic guidance and support to project teams to ensure adherence to safety protocols, scheduling requirements, budget constraints, and quality standards. Oversee financial aspects of operations, including budgeting, forecasting and cost analysis, to drive cost effective decision-making and resource allocation. Identify and onboard new vendors and trades to bid on projects, ensuring alignment with quality and cost standards, and maintaining positive relationships with existing partners.
