Responsible for managing a technical organization with tactical and strategic decision making to support the engineering activities of the airline. This job is also responsible for managing efforts to continuously improve the products and processes of the organization. What you'll do As noted above, this list is intended to reflect the current job but there may be additional essential functions (and certainly non-essential job functions) that are not referenced. Management will modify the job or require other tasks be performed whenever it is deemed appropriate to do so, observing, of course, any legal obligations including any collective bargaining obligations. Responsible for the professional development of team members Troubleshoots chronic aircraft in the field Conducts major damage assessment and temporary repair development in the field Maintains awareness of all open engineering issues during assigned shift Delegates open engineering issues as required to ensure prompt resolution Provides engineering work scope for troubleshooting of operational issues to determine root cause and provide corrective action Creates solutions for recurring aircraft discrepancies Must be willing and able to work irregular hours and shift schedules including holidays and weekends. This is a midnight shift position. Acts as focal on addressing technical and process issues essential to the success of the Company All you'll need for success Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university required 8 years of experience as an Engineer in aviation Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience 10 years of experience in aviation Master's degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college/university Skills, Licenses & Certifications Working knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma principles Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Outlook, Excel, etc. Demonstrated ability to manage major projects on schedule Demonstrated skills in employee development What you'll get Feel free to take advantage of all that American Airlines has to offer:Travel Perks:
