Job Description

Director of Engineering - Gas Power Solutions About Us At GenSystems we are a team of enthusiastic engineers, energy experts, and logistical professionals with a shared vision: to make decentralized power a reality. We understand the limitations of traditional grid infrastructure and the challenges faced by remote communities, industrial facilities, and disaster-stricken areas. That's why we've developed a fleet of highly efficient, trailer-mounted gas turbine generators that can be deployed anywhere, anytime. Position Overview The Director of Engineering serves as the technical and commercial leader for Gen-Systems' mobile gas turbine power portfolio. This role is responsible for the overall lifecycle performance, reliability, competitiveness, and profitability of the company's mobile and temporary power generation solutions supporting remote industrial operations, peak shaving, grid support, and outage response applications. This position combines deep technical expertise in gas turbine power generation with strategic product leadership and commercial execution. The Director will drive product strategy, fleet optimization, engineering standards, reliability improvements, and market expansion while ensuring alignment with customer requirements and company growth objectives. The role works cross-functionally with engineering, operations, sales, supply chain, manufacturing, and field service teams to deliver high-performance mobile power solutions that are reliable, scalable, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible. Key Responsibilities Lead the technical and commercial strategy for Gen-Systems' mobile gas turbine power generation portfolio, including performance, reliability, lifecycle management, and product competitiveness. Define and manage product requirements for new equipment, upgrades, controls integration, and digital monitoring capabilities in collaboration with engineering teams, OEMs, and strategic suppliers. Drive lifecycle management initiatives; including configuration control, fleet standardization, obsolescence planning, retrofit strategies, and long-term asset optimization. Partner closely with sales and business development teams to support customer engagement, solution development, technical proposals, and strategic growth initiatives across industrial, utility, remote power, and temporary power markets. Support commercial strategy development including pricing models, rental structures, long-term service agreements, and margin optimization aligned with business objectives. Utilize fleet performance analytics, reliability data, operational KPIs, and field feedback to prioritize engineering improvements related to availability, emissions, heat rate performance, maintainability, and total cost of ownership. Lead cross-functional collaboration between engineering, operations, field service, and supply chain teams to resolve recurring technical issues, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous product improvement initiatives. Establish and maintain engineering standards for mobile power deployment including balance-of-plant integration, controls architecture, interconnection requirements, mechanical and electrical interfaces, and rapid deployment site standards. Provide technical oversight and approval for major engineering decisions including equipment selection, engine upgrades, fleet modifications, overhaul strategies, and critical repair planning. Support key customer activities including commissioning, startup, performance testing, outage support, root cause investigations, and major project execution activities. Collaborate with supply chain and vendor management teams to qualify suppliers, optimize spare parts strategies, and ensure technical compliance of procured equipment and components. Ensure compliance with all applicable HSE standards, industry regulations, emissions requirements, and engineering best practices related to mobile and distributed power generation systems. Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and training to internal stakeholders including sales, project management, operations, and field service personnel. Monitor market trends, competitor offerings, and emerging technologies within mobile power generation, distributed energy, and temporary power markets to support strategic planning and product differentiation. Prepare and present product performance reviews, engineering updates, investment recommendations, and business cases to executive leadership. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a closely related discipline. 8+ years of experience in power generation, gas turbine engineering, rotating equipment, or related energy infrastructure environments. Minimum 5 years of experience in product management, product line leadership, engineering management, or technical-commercial leadership roles supporting power generation products or services. Strong technical knowledge of gas turbine systems, controls, balance-of-plant systems, and mobile or distributed power generation applications. Demonstrated experience supporting temporary power, rental power, mobile power generation, or project-based energy solutions for industrial, utility, oil & gas, data center, or infrastructure customers. Strong business and commercial acumen including experience supporting pricing strategies, lifecycle cost analysis, investment evaluations, and product profitability initiatives. Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders in fast-paced, growth-oriented environments. Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into customer-focused business solutions. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required to support customer sites, suppliers, and company operations. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Engineering, Business Administration (MBA), or related technical/business discipline. Experience supporting mobile gas turbine packages used in industrial, midstream, utility, or remote power applications. Background in power generation, mobile power solutions, distributed energy, temporary power projects, or large-scale industrial power applications. Knowledge of emissions compliance, utility interconnection standards, and distributed generation grid support requirements. Experience managing OEM relationships, vendor negotiations, and technical-commercial agreements.
