What to Expect As Tesla's Electrical Project Manager, you will own the procurement, contracting strategy and construction of the electrical infrastructure that powers refineries: high-voltage substations, medium-voltage distribution, transformers, switchgear, site cabling, grounding, and permanent utility connections that will carry power from the grid to the process, including energizations. If you thrive on complexity, move fast, and take pride in delivering world-class infrastructure, this role was built for you. What You'll Do
Own full project execution of electrical scopes including HV substations, medium-voltage switchgear, transformers, site power distribution, MV/LV cable, lighting, grounding, and cathodic protection systems from design integration and receipt through energization
Drive substation and electrical distribution construction with urgency and precision, managing equipment setting, cable installation, and termination sequencing to protect the critical path
Administer electrical contracts, manage change orders, track cost performance, and present budget status
Coordinate electrical scope interfaces with OSBL utility systems and ISBL process area requirements, ensuring power distribution energization plans support commissioning and startup sequencing
Coordinate with electrical design and EPC engineering teams, equipment OEMs, and utility providers, providing construction need-by dates, and constructability feedback, ensuring deliverables and long-lead procurement timelines support field construction sequences
Manage the utility interconnection process, including interconnection studies, service agreements, and assist in regulatory submissions, ensuring external approvals are never the gate to operations
Lead energization planning in coordination with the commissioning team, ensuring all systems are energized safely, in sequence, and ahead of process area startup requirements What You'll Bring
5+ years managing electrical scopes on major capital projects $50M+: HV/MV substations, site power distribution, large-scale cable and switchgear installation in industrial or refinery environments
Electrical engineering degree or equivalent technical experience required
Strong technical foundation in HV/MV system design, substation construction, transformer and switchgear specifications, and site grounding systems
Experience managing utility interconnection processes, including direct engagement with utility companies, independent system operators, and regulatory bodies is preferred
Proven ability to manage electrical contracts, track cost and schedule performance, and drive subcontractor accountability on fast-moving capital projects. Expert-level understanding of earned value management and schedule/cost control
Energization and commissioning planning experience - you understand the sequence, the safety requirements, and what it takes to hand over a live electrical system to an operations team
Technically sharp, self-directed, and relentlessly focused on keeping electrical off the critical path Compensation and Benefits
