Job Description
Summary:
Engineering quality and product development lead responsible for product validation, design review, manufacturing readiness, supplier quality, and launch support for automotive accessory products. Job Requirements Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Automotive, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering preferred 5-7 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience Valid in-state driver's license required Knowledge of current OE and aftermarket product expectations for assigned accessory product categories Familiarity with common manufacturing processes for assigned accessory product categories Familiarity with installation methods for assigned automotive product categories Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and work with abstract and concrete variables Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Ability to interpret technical instructions, specifications, regulations, and part drawings Technical analysis and diagnostic skills Ability to work within a structured process and initiate process changes when needed Reliable onsite attendance required Preferred Skills Experience in product quality and part approval Experience with SolidWorks ASQ Certified Quality Engineer certification Membership in Society of Automotive Engineers or other quality, engineering, or automotive associations Job Responsibilities Lead and oversee Design Engineers and ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations Establish and maintain product expectations for assigned product categories Define and oversee product configuration, requirements, and documentation Represent the organization at external customer design reviews Oversee coordination of resources for design evaluation, including parts, vehicles, and stakeholders Evaluate product design and integration against technical expectations and current internal capabilities Develop improved methods and tools where needed to support product evaluation and integration Evaluate products for appearance, fit, function, reliability, and serviceability Identify potential failure modes and develop countermeasures to reduce failure frequency and severity Manage stakeholder concerns and provide technical feedback to suppliers Determine whether products should proceed through development Execute and facilitate manufacturing readiness for accessories Oversee technical review and validation of new products, including Design for Manufacturing and Assembly considerations Oversee external customer readiness for accessory installation, including installation training Evaluate product applicability for model year carry-over and related validation activities Manage product design records and technical documentation Lead product quality problem-solving efforts, including supplier corrective actions Lead quality plan development for newly launched products Review warranty data and other field performance indicators Participate in continuous improvement of product and process development and launch processes Participate in supplier qualification, sourcing decisions, and supplier development Support product portfolio direction and accessory category opportunities across vehicle linesPay Details:
