DESCRIPTION
The Technology Engineering Manager provides expert technical leadership and oversight for the design, architecture, and security of the district's core technical systems. This position is responsible for the high-level engineering of wired and wireless networks, server environments, cloud architecture, software and application engineering and integrated Audio/Visual systems. A primary focus of this role is the development and enforcement of a robust cybersecurity framework to protect district data and ensure the resilience of all digital operations including expertise in student data privacy compliance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Credentials, education and experience Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a closely related technical field. Industry standard certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCIE, Azure/AWS Solutions Architect) preferred. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in systems and network engineering, with at least 3 years in a technical leadership or supervisory capacity. Advanced mastery of enterprise networking (switching, routing, firewalling), server virtualization, SAN storage, and cloud-native infrastructure. Strong understanding of NIST or CIS security frameworks, threat mitigation, encryption standards, and incident response protocols. Functional knowledge of student data privacy laws and regulations (e.g., FERPA, COPPA, SOPPA) and the technical expertise to implement data encryption, access controls, and data-sharing audits. Experience in designing and maintaining comprehensive disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity plans, including immutable backup solutions. Expertise in Identity and Access Management and Single Sign-On (SSO) integrations for a multi-platform environment. Experience overseeing large-scale Audio/Visual engineering projects, including digital signage, auditorium systems, and classroom integration. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to lead a team of specialized engineers, manage vendor relationships for Tier-3 support, and translate high-level technical needs into actionable project plans.
