Salary:

This individual will act as the senior engineering authority in the field, ensuring all construction activities align with applicable standards, specifications, and project objectives. This is a highly visible role requiring strong technical expertise, leadership, and the ability to make critical decisions in real time. Key Responsibilities Serve as the Responsible Charge Engineer overseeing construction engineering activities Act as the owner's representative for engineering decision-making and compliance Lead construction oversight efforts for bridge and roadway projects Manage and review: Change orders and supplemental agreements Construction schedules and budgets Contractor submittals and RFIs Ensure adherence to: VDOT Road & Bridge Specifications VDOT Construction Manual MUTCD and applicable standards Coordinate with contractors, inspectors, and project stakeholders Provide leadership and direction to field engineering and inspection teams Identify and mitigate project risks, claims, and field issues Qualifications Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Virginia (required) 10+ years of experience in transportation construction engineering Strong background in VDOT projects (highly preferred) Experience with: Bridge and roadway construction Construction Engineering & Inspection (CEI) Resident Engineer or similar leadership roles Deep knowledge of: VDOT standards and specifications Construction administration processes Proven ability to lead teams and make independent engineering decisions Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Interested in hearing more?
