The Director of Engineering provides strategic and operational leadership for Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Tooling, and Project Engineering functions within an aerospace manufacturing environment. This role is accountable for aligning engineering execution with business objectives, driving cost effective product realization, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering scalable, high performance engineering operations across the full product lifecycle.ELEMENTS RELATED TO THE FUNCTION

Advanced expertise in project planning, scheduling, resource allocation, risk management, and execution across complex manufacturing programs Strong knowledge of full product lifecycle management, from concept and development through production, sustainment, and end‑of‑lifeMANUFACTURING & ENGINEERING EXPERTISE
Proficient in ERP/MRP systems supporting plastic injection molding, tooling, production planning, and cost control (IQMS preferred) Demonstrated success in process and product development, including cost modeling, aerospace product definition, and engineering solutions using CAD tools (CATIA, SolidWorks) Hands‑on knowledge of tooling concepts, design requirements, and manufacturability for plastics and aerospace applicationsLEADERSHIP & ORGANIZATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS
Proven ability to lead, train, and motivate cross‑functional engineering and manufacturing teams in alignment with organizational values Strong focus on optimizing New Product Introduction (NPI) and ensuring cost‑effective, reliable production throughout the product lifecycle Highly developed emotional intelligence, including self‑awareness, empathy, and sound judgment to support delegation, coaching, performance management, and mentorshipCOMMUNICATION & COLLABORATION
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across Engineering, Quality, Production, Supply Chain, Finance, and Business Development Skilled in conflict resolution, negotiation, and decision‑making within fast‑paced, matrixed manufacturing environmentsQUALITY, COMPLIANCE & CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
Working knowledge of AS9100 requirements related to tooling, supply chain, materials, product design, and technical personnel management Strong background in Continuous Improvement methodologies, including Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and related tools Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining disciplined planning, organization, and on‑time executionTECHNICAL APTITUDE
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint) Experience working with ERP/MRP systems in a manufacturing environment Advanced CAD proficiency in CATIA and SolidWorksKEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Set and execute the engineering vision and strategy to support growth, operational excellence, and customer commitments Oversee all engineering staffing, capacity planning, and performance metrics, including NPI timelines, NREs, and production readiness Lead cost and risk evaluation for new programs, re‑quotes, tooling strategies, and major capital or ROI initiatives Ensure timely escalation and resolution of engineering issues impacting delivery, quality, cost, or compliance Drive shop‑floor efficiency improvements through Manufacturing Engineering leadership and tooling optimization Establish and maintain engineering KPIs aligned with business objectives, regularly reporting to executive leadership Partner with Quality to lead supplier engineering oversight, continuous improvement, and risk reduction initiatives Monitor BOM accuracy, tooling status, delivery performance, expedited requests, and past‑due engineering actions Support Business Development through technical input, quoting collaboration, customer engagement, and new business pursuit Champion clean, safe, and organized engineering and production environments with visible accountabilityPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of 5+ years of Plastics Engineering experience, preferably within an aerospace manufacturing environment Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline preferred Master's degree in Project Management or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred Certified Engineering Manager (CEM) credential preferredSimilar remote jobs
