  • Full-time Vessel Engineering Manager The Vessel Engineering Manager provides strategic leadership across fleet engineering operations, ensuring schedule reliability, regulatory compliance, and cost-effective maintenance execution.
This role oversees all vessel Maintenance & Repair (M&R) activities, leads engineering personnel, and drives operational, financial, and safety performance across the fleet. Key Responsibilities Lead end-to-end vessel M&R operations, ensuring schedule integrity, reliability, and minimal operational disruption across the fleet Approve and align Port Engineer maintenance plans with fleet objectives, regulatory requirements, and long-term asset strategy Coordinate emergent repairs and technical solutions to reduce downtime and maintain service continuity Develop and manage vessel maintenance budgets, including cost tracking, purchase order oversight, and capital expenditure planning (CERs) Audit vendor performance, deliverables, and invoicing to ensure accuracy, cost control, and accountability Oversee engineering personnel both ashore and onboard, including recruitment, development, scheduling, and performance management Establish and maintain dry dock and lay period work scopes, ensuring efficient execution and alignment with operational needs Ensure full compliance with Safety Management Systems (SMS), class, flag state, and environmental regulations while supporting marine safety initiatives Required Qualifications USCG Chief Engineer License (Unlimited Steam & Motor), with First Assistant or Chief Engineer experience preferred Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from a State or Federal Maritime Academy (preferred) Demonstrated experience managing technical operations for U.S. flag containerships, including M&R oversight Strong project management capability, including proficiency with planning tools (e.g., MS Project) and maintenance systems (e.g., NSE/CMMS) Advanced analytical, financial, and communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint)
