SUMMARY Responsible for all aspects of product development for the Service and Aftermarket engineering team. Ensures products are designed to meet quality, cost, sales and customer objectives. Assist in the development and implementation of engineering strategies. Responsible for establishing and ensuring compliance to corporate engineering best practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Leads product design group to create products for our customers and resolve technical issues Develops resource plans and submit to Director of Engineering for approval Budgets for engineering expenses and submit to Director of Engineering Supervises and organizes technical issues/design reviews Directly participates in key product demonstrations and technical review meetings Ability to work with little or no supervision Identifies and understands high risk product design elements and works with Product Engineers to proactively develop contingency plans (drive for proactive accelerated engineering evaluation (EE) testing as appropriate) Assists Product Business Manager in technically related questions such as cost estimating, cost reduction plans, capacity planning and problem solving Works closely with Product Business Manager for strategic product planning activities Ensures Product Engineers understand and respect cost objectives / targets for their programs, and keep Program Management abreast of any occurrences which may affect program cost and / or timing Assists Director of Engineering in the standardization of best-practices across the product engineering teams Improves Engineering department capabilities through perfecting skills, gaining new skills, and coordinating the team's advanced development projects Ensures compliance to the
STRATTEC
Product Development Process (PDP) and TS16949 Quality Standards Supports STRATTEC's global joint venture technical activities as required
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages four to twelve employees in the engineering department Responsible for all management duties for the engineering team such as interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving issues. Communicate clear, measurable and informative individual performance objectives to all direct reports Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws All above activities and responsibilities will be supported and approved (as applicable) by the Director of Engineering EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in an engineering field At least 10 years of engineering work experience; previous supervisory experience a plus Problem Solving Capabilities, including demonstrated ability to manage critical customer and supplier situations Strong knowledge of OEM customer expectations, quality standards/systems, customer relationship management
