Position Overview :
Legacy Remediation's Benicia office is seeking an experienced, full-time Lead Field Technician (40+ hrs./week) to support and help lead our growing field operations. This role is ideal for individuals with strong mechanical trade skills and experience leading field crews, who are interested in applying those skills within the environmental remediation industry. Prior remediation or drilling experience is not required—we are looking for candidates who are mechanically capable, field-proven, and motivated to learn. The Lead Field Technician is a hands-on leader responsible for executing field projects, guiding small crews, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project objectives. This role requires someone who takes ownership in the field, can troubleshoot equipment and site conditions in real time, and is comfortable acting as the point person on active job sites. This is a field-based position working at industrial sites in standard Level D PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, etc.). Work includes a mix of equipment operation and manual labor to prepare and inject remediation compounds into the subsurface to treat contaminated groundwater. Typical workdays are Monday-Friday, generally starting at our Benicia office around 5:00 AM, with end times varying (often around 5:00 PM) depending on project location and traffic. Overtime and double-time opportunities are common. Most projects are located in the Bay Area, with some travel (~10-25%) required throughout California. Lead day-to-day field execution of remediation and drilling projects Direct and work alongside field staff (typically small crews) Operate and oversee equipment including Direct Push rigs, pumps, and injection systems Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and site-related challenges in real time Coordinate with project managers, consultants, and site representatives Maintain accurate field logs, injection data, and daily reporting Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and regulatory requirements Support mobilization, setup, and demobilization of equipment and materials Travel as needed to support regional projectsRequired Skills and Qualifications :
Strong work ethic: dependable, accountable, and professional Proven leadership ability in a field or trade environment Excellent safety awareness and work habits Strong mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting capability (pumps, hoses, rigs, etc.) Effective communicator (field-to-office and client-facing when needed) High school diploma or equivalent Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in physically demanding environments Valid driver's license with clean driving record Willingness to obtain Class A CDL within 1 year (if not already held) Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screenPreferred Qualifications :
Experience leading field crews or acting as a crew lead Direct Push drilling experience (Geoprobe or similar) Experience with in-situ remediation systems and injections Class A Commercial Driver's License OSHA 40-HourHAZWOPER
