Job Description

Tesla is seeking a dynamic environmental professional to join the Environmental, Health and Safety Team (EHS) to support various environmental permitting and compliance programs across Tesla's global operations. Reporting to the Air Quality Program Manager, the Environmental Engineer will be responsible for performing complex technical work in air quality compliance and permitting projects. This individual will also manage external environmental consultants, serve as the internal environmental technical subject matter expert, and advise and influence internal business partners in order to achieve environmental performance goals. Be part of the Tesla EHS Team that builds capacity, provides solutions, and drives continuous improvement throughout the Global Tesla Organization. Ensure Tesla operates in compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations including recordkeeping, routine compliance evaluations, periodic air emissions and compliance reporting, and air emission source testing coordination with stakeholders (as needed) Identify, assess, and control environmental/compliance risks by monitoring and analyzing the developing trends and changes in laws/rules/regulations and utilizing Management of Change (MOC) and other tracking tools for new and existing projects Support permit application preparation for new projects, as assigned Support audits and inquiries from regulatory federal, state, and/or local regulatory agencies Assist in planning for changes in physical facilities, reviewing new or modified equipment and new programs to meet regulatory and company requirements; and recommend corrective actions to responsible stakeholders as necessary Perform incident analysis to determine causal factors and the most appropriate corrective actions Develop, track, report, and/or manage Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions Bachelor's Degree in Environmental or Chemical Engineering, or equivalent experience Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience with NSR and Title V permitting and compliance tasks, and managing regulatory/agency inspections Strong foundational knowledge of air quality laws (CAA, CEQA, NEPA, etc.), regulations, and standards including knowledge of federal
NESHAP/MACT/NSPS

The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
