SR. ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER, WETLANDS & REGULATORY COMPLIANCE
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Engineer or Consultant with specialized expertise in wetlands delineation, regulatory permitting, and environmental compliance to join our team. This role focuses heavily on USACE permitting, Clean Water Act compliance, NEPA documentation, and EPA regulations, with a strong emphasis on project management. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, managing complex environmental projects from planning through execution and regulatory approval.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage wetland permitting across multiple sites and Corps Districts in accordance with USACE guidelines and the 1987 Wetlands Delineation Manual Prepare and submit Section 404/10 permits, including Individual Permits, Nationwide Permits, and Regional General Permits to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and state agencies Ensure compliance with the Clean Water Act (CWA), Endangered Species Act (ESA), and other relevant EPA and federal/state environmental regulations Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies (USACE, EPA, state environmental departments) and coordinate agency meetings, site visits, and jurisdictional determinations Manage multiple environmental projects simultaneously, including scope development, scheduling, budgeting, client communication, and quality control. Provide guidance to project leads on regulatory guidelines and facilitate internal coordination on new projects Conduct environmental site assessments, impact analyses, and prepare technical reports, permit applications, and compliance documentation Develop and manage National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation, including Environmental Assessments (EAs), Environmental Impact Statements (EIS), and Categorical Exclusions (CatEx) Support business development efforts by assisting with proposals, cost estimates, and client presentations related to wetlands and regulatory services
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree 5+ years of experience in environmental consulting, engineering, or regulatory review
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field Minimum 5-8 years of professional experience in wetland or coastal ecology, environmental consulting, environmental engineering with a strong focus on permit development and regulatory compliance Demonstrated expertise in: Wetlands delineation and permitting under the Clean Water Act USACE permit preparation and acquisition (Section 404/10) NEPA compliance and documentation EPA regulations and state-level environmental programs Ability to prepare and develop coordination efforts pursuant to Section 106 of the
NHPA, DOT
Section 4(f), Section 7 and Section 10 of the Endangered Species Act Proven project management experience, including managing budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams Professional Wetland Scientist, Professional Engineer (PE) license, Certified Wetland Delineator, or similar license/certification or willingness to obtain Strong working knowledge of GIS, AutoCAD, and other environmental modeling tools Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex regulatory information clearly to clients and agencies
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
This is not a remote or hybrid position and will require relocation if not already local to the Cape Canaveral, FL areas Position occasionally requires the ability to work extended hours or weekends when needed Ability to travel to various locations included but not limited to: Florida, California, Texas Ability to travel internationally if required Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral
