Job Description

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?
The Environmental Engineer demonstrates core skills, which includes understanding the company safety policies in adherence of the principal values VMVO (Vision, Mission, Values and Objectives). The Environmental Engineer is a key resource to the facility with a focus on environmental compliance. The Environmental Engineer reports directly to the EHS Manager and will be responsible for environmental compliance and sustainability tasks and goals at the CertainTeed, Jonesburg, Missouri facility. This role is responsible for the implementation, execution, tracking and maintenance of the environmental compliance and sustainability, systems and goals for the plant. As the Environmental Engineer, you will work collaboratively with Plant Management, Production, Maintenance, and Engineering team members to support environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives on various projects within these teams. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Complete environmental and sustainability assignments that are assigned by the EHS Manager Monitor employees, contractors, and visitors to ensure compliance with all site policies & permits Help to identify and track environmental events. Assist the EHS Manager in the mitigation plans for any action items that develop from the environmental events Use internal tracking systems to report leading and lagging environmental indicators Own the environmental and sustainability data management of information captured in the internal tracking systems Complete compliance tasks for CAA, CWA, RCRA, TSCA, EPCRA, SARA, and all other applicable Federal, state, and local regulatory programs Work with operational leaders to enforce environmental standards and permit requirements Acts as management and a regulatory liaison, ensuring to engage corporate resources with all official communications Maintain and meet environmental compliance calendar tasks Partner with corporate and 3rd party approved vendors on environmental permitting requirements Ensure all regulatory-required environmental reports are submitted in a timely manner, and records are maintained Be an active member of the Emergency Response Team and other teams as assigned that need environmental support or oversight Help to capture, track, and, where needed, lead efforts to correct deficiencies through site audits and inspections Conduct environmental training programs to meet regulatory and SG plant needs, track training progress Participate and, when needed, lead incident environmental-related investigations, development of corrective actions, and communicate lessons learned in a timely, effective, and thorough manner Participate and help manage site environmental compliance and sustainability projects, which may include gathering information to support justification, working with internal and third-party resources, and obtaining quotes Partner with plant leadership and operators, working to minimize risks to the environment Be able to assist with safety-related tasks as needed
IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?
Minimum education: Bachelor's degree in EHS or Environmental Sciences or other related field
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years' experience completing environmental tasks within manufacturing or consulting setting. Must have a basic knowledge of Lean Thinking, 5-S and Six Sigma Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing Must have adequate skills in MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel Must have the ability to work on various tasks/projects at the same time Must lead by example, maintaining integrity of the Environmental/EHS Management Systems #
