Job Description

Allied Personnel Services is seeking candidates for a Lab Technician opening! This long term temporary opening offers full time, day shift hours. Pay is $20.00/hr. This is an excellent opportunity for an Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering student or recent grad! In this role you will work in a role that combines bench-scale lab work and physical prototype assembly along w/ test rig setup: Prepare common lab solutions and reagents based on target specifications (e.g., calculate and prepare solutions to a desired concentration, pH, and volume) Conduct routine bench-scale lab experiments following written instructions (e.g., resin/column tests, batch mixing, timed procedures) and proactively communicate questions or issues Operate basic lab equipment as trained, including balances, pH meters, conductivity meters, stir plates, and peristaltic pumps; verify equipment is functioning properly prior to use Collect, label, and store samples properly; perform basic measurements (pH, conductivity, mass, volume) and record results in a consistent format Maintain clear, organized experimental notes (including dates, procedures, calculations, deviations, and observations) and upload data and photos to shared folders Monitor experiments during runs (e.g., flow rate, leaks, temperature, system stability) and immediately document abnormalities or failures Clean and organize work areas, glassware, and lab tools; manage routine lab waste disposal in accordance with safety guidelines Contribute to experimental design and assist with equipment assembly and test setup Maintain material and equipment inventory, including tracking supply needs and assisting with ordering or local pickup when required Assemble and modify bench top and pilot-scale test rigs, including tubing runs, fittings, pumps, filters, housings, and support frames Use basic hand tools (wrenches, drills, saws, tubing cutters, etc.) to fabricate and adjust prototype components Troubleshoot mechanical and fluid system issues (e.g., leaks, loose fittings, flow restrictions) and implement practical fixes Assist in building and maintaining scale models and early-stage prototype systems Support physical setup and tear down of experiments, including moving equipment and reconfiguring systems between test runs The ideal candidate for this role is comfortable running controlled experiments AND working with tools to build, modify, and troubleshoot small-scale systems. This role is well-suited to someone who enjoys building things as much as testing them. A background in chemistry is highly preferred.
