Join State Compensation Insurance Fund, California's leading workers' compensation insurance carrier, and help employers identify workplace risks factors, implement practical solutions, and support healthier work environments across a wide range of industries. State Compensation Insurance Fund is seeking an experienced and motivated ergonomist to fill the Associate Safety Engineer position and provide consultative services that help employers reduce workplace injuries, improve operational processes, and minimize workers' compensation costs. Under general supervision, you will:
Provide ergonomic assessments for a variety of policyholders, primarily with industrial operations throughout Southern California that present more complex and difficult risk conditions
Conduct workplace evaluations, identifying engineering controls and work practices that reduce musculoskeletal injuries
Deliver professional high level ergonomic training to policyholder employees and Loss Prevention peers, which can involve research and mentoring.
This position involves frequent travel throughout Southern California, generally south of Bakersfield; the exact service area will be divided with a colleague at time of hire.
The selected candidate will work within a hybrid environment and conduct onsite ergonomic evaluations and consultations with employers throughout the assigned region.

Working Conditions

Thorough knowledge of ergonomic principles, body mechanics, and injury prevention practices, tools, and equipment.
Professional experience providing ergonomic surveys and consultations at a variety of workplace environments
Formal education or specialized training in ergonomics or a related field
Competency in assessment methodologies, evaluation tools, and risk analysis techniques to develop practical recommendations that support employee well-being and reduce injury exposures
Ability to identify and prioritize ergonomic risks in given tasks, suggest process or equipment improvements to reduce risks, and communicate solutions successfully to get employer buy-in.
Ability to influence others to implement practical injury prevention strategies
Experience building collaborative working relationships and providing consultative guidance to employers, managers, and employees regarding workplace best practices
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to learn and utilize evolving technologies and ergonomic assessment tools
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing, consultation, presentation, and training abilities
Organized self-starter with ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment
Candidates having one of the following credentials or willingness to obtain certification is highly desired:
