Job Description

Chipton-Ross is seeking a Facilities Engineer for a contract opportunity in Palmdale, CA.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
(REQUIRED
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
):
  • Certified Construction Estimator (or equivalent experience= 5+ years of constructions estimating experience)
  • 2-4 years of experience performing construction estimating for largescale, high tech, or government contracted projects.
  • Experience with Artificial Intelligence and estimating programs
  • Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Sage Estimating, WinEst, ProEst) and familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or similar analytical tools.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, codes, and industry standards (e.g., AIA, ASCE).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and BIM models.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills; capable of presenting complex cost data to diverse audiences.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare detailed takeoff quantities and cost estimates for a variety of construction scopes (civil works, structural steel, mechanical/electrical systems, specialized aerospace facilities).
  • Develop and maintain estimating templates, unit cost databases, and historical cost data specific to aerospace grade construction.
  • Collaborate with design engineers, project managers, and subcontractors to clarify scope, identify constructability issues
  • Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and BIM models; validate assumptions and apply appropriate labor, material, and equipment rates.
  • Generate bid packages, subcontractor quotations, and value engineering analyses; track bid results and provide post bid cost reviews.
  • Support change order evaluation and cost impact analysis throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Contribute to risk assessments, contingency planning, and cost control reporting for senior leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with Lockheed Martin policies, contractual requirements, and applicable government regulations (e.
g., FAR, DFARS).
