Under the general direction of the Chief Engineer I, CF-Southern Camps, the Stationary Engineer (SE), CF supervises and works with unskilled incarcerated workers in fabricating, installing, repairing and maintaining all heating, cooling, mechanical, laundry, and all kitchen equipment at various Conservation Camps (CC). This position is located at Sierra Conservation Center, in Jamestown, California. The service locations include CC#5, #10, #38, and #39 as needed. This is subject to change based on the needs of the camps. Perform Preventive Maintenance (PM) on assigned equipment. This position may also be required to perform work (within the scope of civil service classification Stationary Engineer), as needed by the institution in assisting other maintenance staff or in another area. This may include required overtime, travel and overnight stay at Camps, as needed. Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s). Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented.

requires that each full-time employee receive a 3 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours of

Working Conditions About this location -- Sierra Conservation Center (SCC) is located in the foothills near Jamestown, California, in the heart of the Mother Lode Gold Country.

It is adjacent to the Stanislaus National Forest, offering pine trees, mountain streams, and an abundance of recreational activities (fishing, swimming, camping, skiing, golfing, etc.).The prison is approximately 70 miles from Yosemite National Park. The primary mission of SCC is to provide housing, programs and services for minimum and medium custody incarcerated individuals, to aid in their rehabilitation. SCC is responsible for the training and placement of male incarcerated individuals in the Conservation Camp Program. SCC administers male camps located throughout California.
